The Corporate Learning Team at PrairiesCan is pleased to offer Community Economic Resilience (CER) in partnership with the Economic Developers Association of Alberta, a two-part virtual learning opportunity designed to support communities through post-disaster economic recovery and long-term resilience. This interactive course explores the ongoing process of resilience and how communities can "bounce back better" from crises. Participants will gain tools and strategies for supporting businesses, fostering community revitalization, and advancing sustainable economic growth in the face of disruption.
 
Course Outcomes:
  • Understand the role of economic recovery efforts following a disaster
  • Analyze impacts, challenges, and opportunities posed by economic disruptions resulting from disasters.
  • Assess economic impacts to facilitate business continuity and recovery.
  • Explore effective Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E) strategies through preparedness, response, and recovery phases.
  • Review Community Economic Resilience Plans and strategies to bolster community resilience and neighborhood revitalization.
  • Explore economic diversification planning and development strategies, financing mechanisms, and infrastructure considerations crucial for post-disaster rebuilding.
